Recreating The Eagle Warrior II / Recreando a los Guerreros Águila II

At this point I decided that I must make a 3D model, with basic forms, in the way to use it as reference to studying the representation of the helmet in different angles.

So I sit to draw and draw, reviewing my iconographic material to get a final version of the Eagle Warrior helmet/head.

Even I draw a couple of mexican eagle head to apprehend the original source of the form.

Taking again the little sketches I had and synthesize them to get the right shape; chosing that which like me and "encapsulate" in a new and clean design. The final figure I get  was this one...

I imagine It as two part wooden helmet; the strictly speaking sallet, I mean, the eagle shape head (upper beak, eyes and nape); and the bevor (lower beak part and jaw).

This lower part is movile in some way, joined to the upper part by cords leaving a free space between them to pass up the earlobe from will pendant the big circular greenstones earring.

The part of the sallet at the nape section is subdivide in three differents levels to down over which will attach eagle feathers, and from sprout the plume or quetzalilpiloni (literally "bauty feathers hanger"), in contrast of that of the Ocelopipiltin which plume is at the top of the helmet.

The beak is cover with gold leaf as too the eyebrow. The eyes will be in greenstone mosaic, shells, and obsidian and coral pieces.

With this information and the final profile design I going to make the 3D model to which I bought some materials, very economics, to this part of the comic preproduction.

A kitchen board, scotch tape, fast dry synthetic clay, plastic beads collar, cocktail umbrellas, colored feathers (I like prefer with no colors but, well... ), little cotton balls and a plastic bottle as you can see in the picture above.

The work must be fast cos the clay dry in a record time and later is no chance to corrections so there I go!
